Club Connect Relays Birmingham Diamond League

16 of our junior athletes travelled to Birmingham to take part in the Club Connect Relays at the Diamond League.  We had teams in the U13 Girls and Boys, the U15 Girls and the U17 Women.  We had mixed fortunes the U13G and U17W were disqualified for faulty change overs.  However, the U13 Boys came 3rd in 52.45 just behind Milton Keynes 52.43 and Coventry Godiva 52.23 and were 0.65s outside the club record.  The U15 Girls had the best performance of the day winning in 50.84 with Milton Keynes 2nd 51.45 and Rugby & Northampton 3rd 51.65, 0.94 sec outside the club record. The teams were:

U13G: Gracie Wall, Ruby Green, Sadie Werrett and Etienne Maughan.

U13B:  Thomas Pountney, Jacob Wells, Ben and DJ Agbenu.

U15G:  Leah Anin, Iona Newbegin, Hannah Nottingham and Tia Blackman

U17W:  Elena Bowles, Jennifer Abbott, Sophia Solomon and Olivia Russell

British Athletics League Division 3 Match 4, Rugby

Provisional results on Po10 show that we were sixth in the match on 254 points ahead of Yeovil and Derby but one place behind Southend 263 points. That provisionally gives the final standings as

Promoted 1 Havering 27, 2 Rugby & Northampton 24.5

Remain in Division 3 Chelmsford 22, 4 Notts  21, 5 Southend 15.5, 6 Bedford 15 (1044)

Relegated 7 Yeovil 15 (1028.8), 8 Mansfield 4.

Trafford & Nene Valley were promoted from Division 4.

As throughout the season we have struggled to get A string wins or high positions - the points are weighted to the top 3 positions. Our best events on the track were 3000m (28pts) with wins for Jack Goodwin & Josh Lunn, 1500m (20pts) with 2nd for Ben Davies and 4th for Will Mullins, 3000SC (20pts) 4th for Jake Barroclough and 2nd for Jack Douglas and the 100m (18pts) 5 for Raphael Boujou and 2 for Joel Parkes. We were weaker in the field, only the high jump brought in large points (24) with Scott Johnson and Alfie Johnson both second. However without the great support from all the other athletes competing we would not have retained our place in Division 3. Results

Unfortunately the photofinish was not working on the day and there were insufficient senior timekeepers for track results to be accepted for Po10 purposes.
